As with most things it is very easy to look at something on the surface, without actually knowing what’s underneath, and form an opinion.  Such is probably the case with how one views disparity in sentencing, and in particular the case involving a six-month sentence, which was recently handed down for sexual assault to, a college ‘kid’ at Stanford.  Some have already claimed that the leniency is due to his being white, while others are suggesting that it’s his athleticism that caused him to get a more than fair deal.  Yet, those people who are suggesting this might be failing to take into consideration the thirty-year sentence that was handed down to a college ‘kids’ who attended Vanderbilt in the not too distant past.  One of those so-called ‘kids’ happens to be white.
